PerMaTa in Indonesia today

Indonesia has the 3rd largest number of new leprosy cases registered
as of today after India and Brazil.
There used to be no platform for the people affected by the disease to
share information and experiences.
Having no united voice, there was little attempt to strategically take action
to alleviate stigma and discrimination against the disease and people
affected by it.
The change was made in 2007.
The first network of people affected by leprosy in Indonesia was born.
Sasakawa Memorial Health Foundation has been supporting PerMaTa
since its establishment in 2007.
In 2013, we supported PerMaTa and its local branches located in 3 provinces
in various activities. PerMaTa’s contribution and dedication has been
changing lives of those affected by leprosy.
As a result of their persistent activities and devotion to enable that
every person affected by the disease and their families deserve to
live a dignified life, PerMaTa was recognised as the best organisation
in leprosy elimination activities in South Sulawesi in 2013!!
PerMaTa has joined the leprosy services such as case finding,
follow-up of treatment, and peer counselling, as an active partner.
PerMaTa is slowly but steadily making a difference in Indonesia!
